Business in the front, party in the back

If you've seen some recent photos of Brady on this blog or on our Picasa site, you might think that mullets are back in style. (For those of you not familiar with the term "mullet" think back to the early 1990's and Billy Rae Cyrus. Billy Rae's hairstyle was a mullet.)

Mullets are definitely not back en vogue. We had Brady's haircut for the first time while we were in the US for the summer. Children's haircuts here in Switzerland cost 45 CHF (about $40) which Bill and I both feel is ridiculous. We had his hair cut at a Cartoon Cuts where they make a big event out of the haircut for only $15. Since we knew we were heading back to the US for Christmas, we decided to hold off on his second haircut so we could get it done cheaply. However, in the meantime, I didn't realize how out-of-control his hair had gotten until we got back from our holiday trip and I was checking out the pictures of Brady from Grandma & Grandpa's house pre-haircut. Poor little kid was definitely sporting a mullet. (See above)

Our second experience with Cartoon Cuts was less-than-stellar and even though most of his shag was gone, the back part of his hair still looked a little "party-ish". So, after consulting the web for some instructional videos, I did a little cut-job to the thicker part of his hair on the back of his head and he's looking good. I think now that I've done cutting once and neither Brady nor I were traumatized, I will try to continue to cut his hair myself. (With Dad serving as the barber-chair.) Wish us all luck!!!
